BMC Software to Integrate XOsoft’s Replication and Continuous Data Protection Technology To Provide A Backup, Recovery, and Replication Management Solution For Enhanced Data Protection
Waltham, MA, January 17, 2006 – XOsoft, a leading provider of continuous application availability solutions, today announced an alliance with BMC Software, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise management solutions. The alliance enables BMC to enhance the data protection capabilities of its backup and recovery solution, BMC SQL-BackTrack by integrating XOsoft’s award winning replication technology, WANSync with embedded Continuous Data Protection (CDP) technology. By delivering enhanced replication with CDP, BMC Software will provide end-users a more complete solution to ensure IT Service Continuity.
Joint customers will benefit from faster and flexible backup and recovery, which will improve system availability. By tightly integrating backup, replication and recovery products into a unified solution, BMC SQL-Backtrack customers will be able to achieve enhanced Recovery Time Objectives (RTO or the amount of time needed to restore a system from an established backup), as well as more granular Recovery Point Objectives (RPO providing the closest consistent restore point available).
“Enterprises are becoming increasingly dependent on business applications, and even the shortest of outages may have a severe financial impact,” said Dave Russell, research director, Gartner. “Therefore it is imperative that enterprises deploy well-managed data protection solutions that include CDP technologies as CDP will dramatically change the way data is protected, decreasing the recovery time and the amount of data lost. It will also change the way in which the replication market is structured, creating replication and backup in a single product.”
The combined offering will be targeted to application and file servers on both the Windows and Unix platforms. “We are taking a leadership position in the emerging Continuity Management market through our relationship with XOsoft,” said Israel Gat, vice president, Infrastructure Management, BMC Software. “Customers require powerful and intelligent tools to ensure data can be recovered accurately and quickly. Through our agreement with XOsoft, we are confident that our customers will receive the high performance replication and continuous data protection solution needed to minimize data loss and accelerate the time to recovery.”
“The significant shift in enterprise demand for solutions that drive data protection allows us to achieve our strategic growth objectives,” said Leonid Shtilman, founder and CEO, XOsoft. “We are thrilled to align ourselves with BMC Software, as they aggressively respond to market demand, and seek to provide competitive solutions that ensure negligible data loss in case of corruptions, natural disasters and malicious attacks.”
The combined solution will be generally available later this quarter, and will be sold directly by the BMC Software sales force and through BMC Software’s distribution network.
