Zak Schwarzman is a Principal at Gotham Ventures. Zak’s relationship with Gotham dates back to 2012, when he served as a Venture Fellow with the firm during business school.
Zak primarily focuses on education technology, financial technology, the API economy, and enterprise software. He is a Kauffman Fellowship Finalist and serves as a mentor at the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator and the EDGE Edtech Accelerator.
Zak received an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and a B.A. in Political Economy and Business from Tulane University. While at Columbia, Zak worked for several venture capital firms, including Gotham Ventures, Canaan Partners, AOL Ventures and Learn Capital, where he sourced and conducted diligence on a dozen early-stage venture investments. Zak also consulted to early-stage tech startups as an InSITE Fellow.
Prior to business school, Zak designed and raised over $30 million in funding for national economic development initiatives, piloted a Central and South American expat voter outreach initiative for the 2008 Obama presidential campaign, and founded an international development organization in Ecuador.
Zak is a dedicated cyclist, a seasoned adventure traveler, and remains one reliable second-serve short of a mediocre tennis game.
