Joy Marcus is a Venture Partner at Gotham Ventures. She led the firm’s investment in DailyWorth, a digital media company targeting professional women. Before Gotham, Joy was General Manager, U.S. for video website Dailymotion, from its U.S. launch through its acquisition by Orange (France Telecom) in January 2011 for $180 million.

Joy grew up professionally in the media community in New York. She has held senior executive positions at Time Warner (AOL) and Barnes&Noble.com, which she helped take public in 1999. She spent the early days of her career traveling the world for MTV Networks (Viacom), working on MTV channel launches in places like Russia and South Africa.

Joy was named to the Digital Power 50 by the Hollywood Reporter in 2009 and 2010, and is a Top 50 Most Powerful Working Mother of 2013, according to WorkingMom.com. She will be the James Wei Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship at Princeton University in academic year 2014-2015.

Joy serves on the Board of Directors of Dailyworth and on the Advisory Boards of Viewbix, an Israeli video commerce company, MeeGenius, a children’s ebook platform, Waywire, a video platform, Sedara Fund, a venture fund based in Israel and the West Bank and Women 2.0, a Silicon Valley based media company targeting women in tech. She is also a member of the Boards of Directors of Young Audiences New York, a non-profit that promotes arts education in New York City public schools and of Hoops4Hope, which teaches life skills to children in South Africa and Zimbabwe. She is a graduate of Princeton University (magna cum laude, phi beta kappa) and New York University School of Law.

Joy lives in the West Village with her husband and two children. She can be seen running in Hudson River Park most mornings, where she tries to keep up with the entrepreneurs.
